📄 Job Responsibilities

As our Lead Backend Rust Engineer, you will be instrumental in the full software development lifecycle. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Designing, developing, and optimizing high-performance backend services using Rust.
  • Architecting and implementing robust APIs, including both REST and GraphQL endpoints.
  • Building and meticulously maintaining scalable PostgreSQL data stores to support our platform.
  • Deploying, monitoring, and scaling backend systems effectively on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Actively participating in all phases of the SDLC, from requirements gathering and design to coding, rigorous testing (unit, integration, end-to-end), and seamless release.
  • Engaging in optional yet impactful projects, such as designing ETL/ELT data pipelines and developing solutions for large-scale video content processing, storage, and serving on AWS.

📌 Candidate Requirements

We are searching for a highly skilled and passionate individual ready to lead. Successful candidates will possess:
  • Extensive software engineering experience (7-10+ years), ideally within early-stage startups or high-growth platforms.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience working with Rust in production environments, particularly on scalable web or blockchain-native backends.
  • Strong proficiency in production-grade Rust, moving beyond hobby projects.
  • A solid, in-depth understanding of REST and GraphQL, including the ability to articulate their trade-offs.
  • Demonstrated experience with PostgreSQL database management and optimization.
  • Familiarity with essential AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and more.
  • Proven experience with agile or scrum workflows and various types of testing methodologies.
  • Strong expertise in designing modern, scalable backend architectures from the ground up, encompassing authentication, real-time messaging, microservices, APIs, caching, and database design.

Desirable Skills & Experience (Bonus Points):

  • Substantial experience combining Rust with GraphQL.
  • Proficiency in ETL/ELT pipeline development.
  • Background in processing, storing, or serving large volumes of video content on AWS.
  • Expertise with popular Rust frameworks like Actix, Axum, Tokio, or Rocket.
  • Experience with WebAssembly, gRPC, or advanced GraphQL implementations.
